WarWorld utilizes online, context-sensitive help. For any menu
selection, press the <!> key for a detailed description of the high-
lighted menu-selection's function. The purpose of this DOCS file is
to provide a game overview and to detail some of the features available
when moving units.

────┤ WarWorld ├───
└──────────────────────┘
The object of the game is to conquer all of the villages in the
world, or at least to be a part of an alliance which does so. This is
accomplished by building units such as Infantry, Cavalry and Archers to
conquer and defend villages (as well as to kill enemy players' units).
Villages also produce GRAIN, which is used to feed the troops. If a
Kingdom's grain requirements exceed its grain production then units will
desert!
Two types of units are particularly important: The Engineer and
the Seige.
The Engineer is the only unit that can collect timber. Timber is
required to build some types of units such as Ships, Ballistas or
Catapults. Other units may SLASH timber (which removes trees so that
units such as the Ballista or Seige-engine may pass through), but only
the Engineer may COLLECT the timber and then DROP it on the castle for
use.
Engineers are also important because they can BUILD BRIDGES and
DIG CANALS. For either action, the Engineer must be carrying at least
one piece of Timber. If your castle is land-locked then you will need
to dig a canal to the water in order for your ships to leave the castle.
The Seige unit is important because it is the only unit that can
conquer a player's castle. If a player owns no villages and he is
Seiged (his castle is attacked by a seige engine) then he will be
removed from the game. If the Seiged-player does own villages, then the
production from those villages will not be received that day. This
usually causes units to desert, since the GRAIN produced by villages is
required to feed units.
Not all units can ATTACK. The Catapult and Ballista may not Attack,
but they can FIRE. The Engineer and Scout can neither Fire nor Attack.
Nevertheless, any unit that is attacked will strike back, whether that
unit is usually capable of attacking or not. Units which are fired upon
will not fire back automatically, whether they can Fire or not. This is
an important note to remember when arranging units to defend the
borders.
Guard mode, available to certain units, places the unit temporarily
out of action. This is handy for fortifying a village. If the unit is
attacked or the Wake Guards menu option is selected then ALL of the
units is Guard mode will become active.
The options available to each unit are listed in green on the
right-hand side of the screen when moving units. For Attack, Drop,
Build, Collect, Load or Unload, press the action key (<A = Attack>,
<D = Drop>, <C = Collect>, etc.) followed by the direction in which to
Attack, load or whatever it is you are doing. When Firing, the map will
redraw if any border is within range of the firing unit. You will then
be required to move the cursor to the target location. Press <Enter> to
fire or <Esc> to abort.
